I Fucking Love That Band Ep# 10 Tom Petty-Wildflowers

Tom-Petty 2It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly twenty years since Tom Petty released Wildflowers. Looking back on an album like this really took me back to my teenage years of discovering roots rock and Americana/folk. Shouting out “Let’s roll another joint” was an often repeated occurrence in 1994-1995. This album is well worth a listen. I recommend chilling out with a nice glass of bourbon and some dank buds as you take a little trip to the mid-nineties.

  1. This is one of the few Tom Petty efforts I like. I think the guy is a great songwriter, but Rick Ruben appears to be one of the only people who knows what to do with his whining, grating voice.

      1. See… I’ve heard the Dylan comparison and I never heard that any more than any other post 60s rock and roller. There is just something grating about his voice. I love Last Dance with Mary Jane, and I want to love stuff from Learning to Fly and Full Moon Fever, but I just can’t get through a single song.
